We do have some bad news to report – next week might see the end of blueberries and nectarines – a definite Snooze or Lose Alert!
Albert Hudson reminded me Sunday, ALWAYS WASH EVERYTHING! This not only protects you – most importantly – but also our Farmers. Our Market Vendors adhere to strict USDA rules but, as consumers, we must also be vigilent!
I have yet to meet a tomato or potato I don’t love – hard to believe at my age. My goal is to “take it to failure”, my trainer’s words. We shall see if I can succeed in this quest to find that tomato or potato I don’t love.
With that in mind, I have a cool variety of tomatoes from Hudson’s Produce – Cherokee purple, Brandywine pink, and Rutgers. An easy prep will be quartering them with a bit of olive oil, or perhaps as Loretta Ficner suggests a bit of a zesty Italian dressing. Throw in some mozzarella, my favorite herbs from Herbs, Spice…, and also a pinch of Lavender Field’s herbs de Provence.
Bucky, at Magee Farms, suggest a kooky looking eggplant. For lack of a better term, we are calling it Alien Eggplant, and preparing it ala parmesana.
To finish this super vegetarian meal is a Kobacha squash from Parson’s Farms. Cut the squash in quarters and bake, rind side up, at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Flip and add butter, cinnamon and brown sugar – bake another 10 to 20 minutes. Of course serve sweet corn on the side!
By the way, Parson’s expects to have Gala apples next week!
STILL WALKING ON SUNSHINE! BE THERE! 8 am to 12pm – Sunday
Curmudgeon Alert: Butch is threatening to return next week! Beware!
GET THEE TO THE MARKET ON TIME!
8AM TO 12PM
A couple of asides:
Congrats to Pam of Chapel’s Country Creamery on getting Frank home with a new liver. Sorry the lobotomy didn’t work out.
To Butch – don’t stop your old fashioned cussing and kicking, but give the nurses one of your sweet smiles now and again. Don’t make me come down there and give you some cussing and and kicking!

Alert: We now have a Snooze Sheriff, Albert, and he has his eye on YOU!

SUNDAY 8 am – BE THERE!!!!!
