2020 Season Kicks Off

By Market Reporter Nancy

Kudos to our patrons on the opening day of the Bethany Beach Farmers Market. During these challenging times with mandated restrictions, it’s heartening to see most everyone patient, masked, and respecting social distancing in the Market.

We observed our longest wait time was between 8:30 and 9:30. We will be meeting weekly to tweak our operation and try to alleviate the wait time. Again, thank you for your patronage, and patience!

Kudos must also go to our volunteer Board members who worked tireless hours planning as smooth an opening as possible.

Sunday dinner was kebabs, featuring spring onions and broccoli from Ficner’s, crimini mushrooms from Davidson’s, and our favorite – garlic bread from Old World Breads. Dessert was provided by Magee Farms – strawberry short cake. Most satisfying!

Wimbrow Farms has kale, squash, golden beets, and more. We are hoping to see Bennett Orchards next Sunday with blueberries – fingers crossed! Hudson Produce will open next week with potatoes, onions, radishes, peas and hopefully their world-famous strawberry jam! Herbs, Spice… will have organic cherry tomatoes next week, and Lavender Fields will be introducing their shampoo and conditioner, along with their usual fabulous products.

The cool spring has delayed some crops, but luckily none were damaged, so each week should be ever more bountiful.

We look forward to seeing you Sunday and appreciate your feedback!

Sundays 8 am -12 noon. Be there!
