It was a perfect Farmers’ Market day – 78 degrees, a soft breeze out of the southeast, and low humidity – we have put in an order for 12 more Sundays of the same!!
Bennett Orchards had blueberries to spare, with more coming next week. Their Draper blueberries may be in, which are a bit firmer and great for freezing! Henry will be serving up his famous Bennett Blueberry “Mocktail” Mojitos this afternoon – see below for recipe.
Old World Breads sold out today. They will be offering more goodies next week, including to-die-for flatbreads – they won’t last long – shop early!
If you are looking for your moment of Zen, high-tail it to Lavender Fields. Somewhere in those bucolic fields, with lavender as far as you can see, Zen awaits. They can be found at 18864 Cool Spring Road in Milton. Short of that, they can be found at our Market every Sunday with a wide variety of products ranging from soaps to teas to lip balm. Any questions? Do not hesitate to engage Heather, or her lovely daughter, Claire. Their trusty summer assistant is Parker. I’m not sure how savvy he is about lavender, but he’s a real cute complement to the team!
Among Ficner Farms, Hudson’s Produce, and Wimbrow Farms, there is an amazing array of produce – squash, zucchini, cucumbers, beans, onions, potatoes, kale, and so much more! I had my first tomato sandwich of the summer, thanks to Harry Wimbrow; and it was pretty incredible! Hope that is a sign of a banner tomato year! Look for sunflowers next week at Hudson’s! We are hearing rumors of corn coming soon!
Our deepest sympathies go to Carol Hudson and her family on the tragic loss of her son this year to Covid. Michael was a gifted artist, a devoted son, and we will miss his sunny presence at the Market. Thank you, Honey Bee Lake Apiary for continuing to bring your fine products to the Market during this time of overwhelming grief.
We all need time to heal, rejuvenate, and trust the world again, and the Bethany Beach Farmers’ Market aims to help. We have a line-up of vendors always dedicated to top-notch, safe produce, and Cracker Jack volunteers to assist, with a sea of smiles!
