BETHANY BEACH FARMERS’ MARKET – July 27, 2025

We were closely monitoring the weather reports with thunderstorms predicted as vendors and volunteers were setting up. Sure enough, torrential downpours and rumbles of thunder were present. All the vendors managed to get their tents erected and everything displayed and ready to go at our posted opening of 8:00 a.m. Most weeks we open early at 7:45 if everyone is ready, but it was amazing what everyone was able to accomplish in that extra 15 minutes. The merchandise tent had standing water up to our ankles which luckily subsided in a bit, but we had squishy sneakers.

The heat was brutal due to the high dew point, but early predictions for next Sunday indicate cooler temperatures with the mornings in the high 50s (can you imagine?) and highs in the low 80s. What a relief that will be!

Our vendors were happy that the sun came out as did the customers. Many sold out by the end of our Market. As mentioned earlier in our BBFM season, we are coordinating with Mariner’s Church on a “Gleaning Program.” At the end of each week’s Market, Mariner’s collects whatever the vendors can donate. The church’s food pantry prepares and distributes the food to needy families. Our vendors are very generous in supporting this program, and our BBFM Board is glad to coordinate and help others.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT WEEK

Bennett Orchards – We were thrilled to have both white and yellow free-stone peaches available on Sunday. For those who can’t make up their minds, even after a taste of the samples, they will mix a bag for you. Most likely the “BlushingStar” white will be gone as they are usually only available a week. They are my personal favorites!  This week they had beautiful bouquet sleeves of sunflowers. Hopefully, they will have more next week. Check out their website for what to expect next. Good recipes are also here: https://www.bennettorchards.com/
