BETHANY BEACH FARMERS’ MARKET – JULY 7 2024 Market Report

Warm and wonderful!! The weather? The Patons? Our furry friends? Yes to all! We had a great turnout at the Market today and perhaps record numbers of dogs who sat in the shade under our tent while their owners shopped! As you all know, we do not allow dogs in the Market, but we are truly dog friendly! To date, not a single pooch has required therapy after a stay at our tent!

Warm and wonderful? Let me shout out to our incredible volunteers! They make standing for hours in brutal heat look like fun! There might be something a bit wrong with these folks because they actually enjoy being a part of this warm and wonderful Market!! Thank you one and all!! A comment passed along a few years ago from a customer to a volunteer: “You volunteers must have been trained by Disney World; you are all so friendly.” Our volunteers come by it naturally and are great!

BEWARE: several vendors sold out this week – Shop EARLY to avoid disappointment!!!

Recipe of the week for your cantaloupe and watermelon:

This is the easiest way to enhance the flavor of your cantaloupe or watermelon. Carolyn’s Grandfather Payne always sprinkled a little kosher salt on his cantaloupe and taught the grandchildren how good it is. This year our vendor Story Hill Farm has had samples of watermelon sprinkled with their Henlopen salt. This is also very good. See this article about Story Hill’s acquiring Henlopen Sea Salt

Enjoy!
