BETHANY BEACH FARMERS’ MARKET – JUNE 29, 2025
Today in Bethany started off with a bang with the Firecracker 5K run/walk. Many of the participants joined us after the race.
An annual customer, Heidi, rang our opening bell as she did a few years ago. When she comes to Bethany, she is usually first in line at Bennett’s; so we welcomed her by assigning her this fun duty. She never wants to miss out on the blueberries and peaches. Today was the first time this season that the line wrapped around into the parking lot. So come early to get everything on your shopping list.
If you are interested in some of the goodies from Old World Bread, it’s wise to go there next as they usually have a line that wraps onto Pennsylvania Avenue. They nearly sold out at the end as well as Derby Mill flowers. Nancy James Oysters did sell out.
Our vendors are doing well and appreciate our loyal customer base which includes locals and annual tourists. At the end of the day, they participate generously with our Gleaning Program in conjunction with Mariner’s and their Food Pantry. Thanks to all.
We also enjoy people watching as we see many fun and interesting outfits. Today we saw three darling little girls, all in their matching hot pink outfits. Some coming from church, or getting ready to go to the beach, or going back home to fix breakfast. There are lots of fun hats, too.
It was another scorcher with heat and humidity that tested the endurance of our vendors, volunteers, and customers. We are so grateful to our producers-only vendors who toil in their fields or in the Bay every day to be able to offer us such a wonderful selection of their specialties.

Bonus tip from Carolyn, BBFM Board
My Grandfather Payne always sprinkled a little kosher salt on cantaloupes. It really enhances the flavor. Harry at Wimbrow’s has cute personal-size cantaloupes. I enjoyed half of one for breakfast this morning with the kosher salt. Yummy!
