Celebrating our 20^th season

Our twentieth year of our Bethany Beach Farmers’ Market has begun beautifully! Our vendors, volunteers, and customers were ready to enjoy.

Reminder – due to where Memorial Day fell on the calendar, we will have 15 Markets this year versus our normal 14…one more week of yummy local goodies. This Report repeats so you a get to know our Vendors.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT SUNDAY

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new vendor: Carey Apiary and Farm which has joined our old favorites from last year. They will bring a new look for honey products, including raw honey, raw pollen, hand and lip salve, dog paw balm, leather conditioner and, of course, beeswax candles. Patrick, who is a Master Beekeeper, operates 50 hives while rapidly growing.

Bennett Orchards – Delicious blueberries are in and sell out quickly. After we exhaust blueberry season, we have peach season that should go until near the end of the Market season.

Davidson’s Exotic Mushrooms – Expect some of the best from Kennett Square, Pa., (“Mushroom Capital of the World”). Portobello, Shitake, Cremini, Pom-Poms are some of the varieties plus soup mixes, powdered mushrooms, and more.

Derby Mill Farm – Derby Mills Flower Farm from Dover, run by two sisters, Paula and Vickie, will return bringing flowers and botanicals, including herbs and light vegetables.

Dittmar Family Farms – Dittmar Family Farms offers regenerative chemical-free agriculture. The young family brings a full range of greens throughout the summer, as well as numerous vegetables and farm-raised specialty beef and goat meats.

Herbs, Spice, Everything Nice – Herbs, Spice & Everything Nice will bring their USDA-certified organic vegetables and plants.

Jackie Blues – Cory Savage, a fifth-generation crabber, with his wife, Jackie, not only catch the crabs but also pick and prepare them in their own Snow Hill, Md., picking facility. Live Blue Crabs, Fresh picked Crab Meat, Crab Cakes, Crab Salad.

Lavender Fields – They have many wonderful items such as lavender hand sanitizer, lavender honey, natural hand-crafted soaps, bath salts, lotions, bug spray, and more. There are plenty of selections that make great gifts for friends and yourself as well.

Nancy James Oysters joined us last year and was a favorite for oyster lovers. It was fun to see customers slurping a breakfast oyster or taking home a plate of shucked oysters prepared with their favorite toppings: lemon, cocktail sauce, horseradish…whatever suits your fancy.

An addition this year is Jordan and Tom are roasting oysters (called Oysters Rehoboth); they are cooked to order on the spot and have grand reviews. They plan to do this each week.

Old World Breads – OWB will continue to support those with a sweet-tooth and those with savory wishes with their many varieties of baked goods.Hand-crafted Breads, Pastries, Flatbreads, Cookies are available.

Pereyra Farms – Pereyra Farms from Newark, Md., will feature a full spread of vegetables and fruits, including melons, cantaloupes, corn, squash, tomatoes and cucumbers, as well as farm-fresh eggs at various times during the season.

Story Hill Farm – Story Hill Farm has been growing their heritage breed Randall cattle herd to be well stocked with beef products. Their tastings, which are spiced with their own Henlopen Salts, are harvested and produced from local waters and on their Frankford farm. Marketgoers can pick up some free-range eggs and locally produced custom peanut butters when they stop by their trailer. Sample their Henlopen Salts at their tent.

Wimbrow Farms – Harry Wimbrow of Whaleyville, Md., will return with their array of melons, cantaloupes, squash, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and more, with different offerings arriving throughout the Market season.
