It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood – we saluted August’s end on a sunny, breezy high note. It was the best weather of our season.

Next week Bennett’s hopes to have some peaches, but not truckloads – we guarantee a very early sellout!!

Davidson’s Exotic Mushrooms surprised us with a rare appearance by Dale and the Shroom Queen, Terry. I must say, Terry looked a bit lost not being able to cook up her myriad goodies for sampling. Fingers crossed that she’ll be back in business with free samples and recipe cards next summer!

As all our trusty summer workers head back to school, we have another stand-in: Maggie will be managing Old World Breads next week. We lost Maggie to Florida a couple of years ago – thanks for bringing your smiling face back to our Market!!

All of our local growers will be on hand for our Market farewell with their usual bodacious bounty! In addition, Harry Wimbrow has adorable little pumpkins, and his early apples – free for the taking last week. Keep an ear out for his bullhorn.

We had another nice showing with a count of 1,163 shoppers.

We would like to send a special Shout Out to the gentleman in the bread line who said, “Our volunteers are so friendly, they must have been trained by Disney.”  With that in mind, should we have another COVID summer, volunteers will sport either Mickey ears or pink, polka dotted ties. For many reasons, let’s hope that doesn’t happen!

See you for the Sunday Finale on September 6th – 8 am – 12 pm
