Mother Nature at Her Summers Best!!!

By Market Reporter Nancy

What a spectacular day at the Market – a day made in heaven weather- wise, and that was reflected by shoppers, vendors, and our usual curmudgeons who are now smiling.

Bad news – Bennett’s nectarines are done for the year. Hope you were able to grab some, because they are delish! It’s a short season for nectarines; so be sure to mark your calendar for next year – early- to mid-August! The good news is Bennett’s and Parsons expect to have peaches for a couple more weeks.

More bad news – Albert Hudson reports that his attorney, Harry Wimbrow, is recommending he file for Chapter 43. We do not know what that is, but both promise plenty of beautiful produce next week!

We said goodbye to Abby at Davidson’s Exotic Mushrooms this week, as she is heading back to the Univ. of So. Carolina – don’t think we have seen her so smiley all summer!  Thanks for the awesome mushroom pate – I most definitely got that recipe, which Terry is so generous to provide each week.  Be safe, Abby, and have a great year!

Wimbrow Farms has their Turkish grilling eggplants – a thin, no-peel skin – throw it right on the grill!

Herbs, Spice, and Everything Nice will be picking figs next week, along with Beach Plums.  Beach Plums grow wild on the dunes from North Carolina to New England. Theirs are grown with a bit more care, and yes, they are organic!

It is with a heavy heart I report that the summer of 2019 is slipping away much too quickly. We still have a few weeks with tons of great produce to offer – don’t miss out!!

Fresh Harvest Hydroponics is now selling wheat grass lemon or ginger tea.  Healthy and believe it or not quite tasty!!

Celtic Farms. Despite their smiles, they were not as fresh as their flowers and produce. Something about a wedding the night before…

Albert and Melissa of Hudson’s Farm – one special team!

Make sure you check out the photos from last week.
