We were walking on sunshine all day – and don’t it feel good!!
Alert: Bennett Orchards expects peaches next week, along with blueberries! Triple threat – shop early – they will sell out quickly! In other news, Henry was caught catching a few waves this morning. Generally, he only has time for that in wet suit weather!
In other exciting news, we had corn this week from Wimbrow Farms! Harry promises more next week along with heirloom tomatoes, garlic, onions, and a variety of potatoes – blue, fingerlings and who knows what else! Nothing signals skipping into the sweet season of summer produce than local corn!
Ficner’s Family Farm will also be harvesting corn, along with more of their bouquets of broccoli, tender squash, and zucchini, kale, and more.
Fresh Harvest Aquaponics will be bringing pineapple wheat grass shots next week in addition to lettuce. Bill’s wheat shots are not only a healthy boost while strolling the market, they are amazingly tasty!
Perhaps not as healthy, my favorite strolling beverage has become sarsaparilla soda from Story Hill Farm – a throwback to my youth (many moons ago!). Or mosey over to Honey Bee Lake Apiary for a refreshing spot of lemonade. All very satisfying follow-ups to that morning joe!
Next Sunday is July 3rd – perfect timing to shop for your 4th of July festivities. Don’t forget, the parade is back this year, along with better-than-ever fireworks! Old World Breads usually brings plenty of hot dog rolls with their awesome goodies; 302 Aquaponics will have plenty of lettuce – my new favorite is Summer Crisp! And this week they will have more tilapia! Don’t forget to grab a pie from Honey Bee Lake – one of our crack (ed?) volunteers reports their peach pie is a delicious must!
Again, shop early! A lot of favorites – blueberries, peaches, corn – will sell out quickly!
