With a clang of the cowbell, and a rousing “Woo-Hoo!” from Dave Wiley, the 2022 season opened under blue, but breezy skies!

A fickle spring has put local produce a bit behind this year, but nothing devastating; and all your favorites will be coming.

Bennett Orchards expects to have lots of blueberries next week.  Ficner Farms will be bringing more kale, along with squash, zucchini, sugar snap peas, and their kooky kohlrabi. Wimbrow Farms expects cherry tomatoes, broccoli and cukes. Herbs, Spice and Everything Nice always has an interesting variety of herbs and plants, along with vegetables.

Not so dependent on Mother Nature, we can always count on a bevy of delectable goodies from Old World Breads and Honey Bee Lake ApiaryLavender Fields has their usual sought-after products of soap, lip balms, and must-have Bug Away spray! Apparently Lavender Fields is in full bloom right now – definitely worth the trip! Of course, grown in the dark, damp hideaways of Southern Chester County, Davidson’s Exotic Mushrooms always brings fun – sometimes funny looking – shrooms!

Adding to our Market’s diversity this year, we are excited to welcome Story Hill Farm and 302 Aquaponics.  Story Hill Farm brings peanut butter, root beer, eggs, sea salt, and next week pork products! 302 Aquaponics grows astonishing lettuces – check out the romaine combo! Next week they will have tilapia, which they farm under the most pristine conditions!

Flowers abound thanks to many of our vendors. Dawn of River Cottage, in Ocean View, joined us mid-season last year, and is back in full force! This week, her beautiful, affordable arrangements were adorned with colorful bows of silk sari rags from India.  In addition, Story Hill Farm grows a sea of amazing native flowers – great for the local eco-system, and great for our Market!

Thanks to clement weather, and perhaps the Bethany vibe, we had a wonderful opening day with many shoppers. After the long off-season, it’s fun to see all the familiar faces, along with the new – welcome back! We look forward to seeing you next Sunday!
